I have been receiving a forwarded email several times… teaching people on how to identify stroke.
Stroke also known as cerebrovascular accident (CVA) happens when a part of the brain experiences problem with the blood flow.
Basically there are two types of stroke,
i) The artery which supplying blood to brain is interrupted.
ii) Internal bleeding in our brain.
The disruption in the blood flow resulted the artery no longer carry oxygen to the brain, and brain cells begin to die.
The most common stroke also known as ‘mini stroke’ is called TIA Transient Ischemic Attack. It lasts only for a short time and leaves no disability. But it has the same symptoms stroke such as weakness on one side of your body or inability to move part of your body, difficult speaking or finding / understanding words, numbness of one side of body…etc.
The chances of getting stroke if you have diseases like:
1) High blood pressure (hypertension)
2) Diabetes
3) Hardening of artery
4) High cholesterol
Only 3 simple steps you could save a stroke victim’s life:
1) Ask the individual to smile
2) Ask the individual to raise both arms and
3) Ask the individual to speak in a simple sentence.
If he/ she has difficulties on doing the 3 tasks above, don’t hesitate, call an ambulance. A stroke victim can reverse the effects of stroke if he is getting treatment within 3 hours, and this will prevent him from getting brain damage.
Learn this, and you might save someone’s life…
